![]() This week's storytime theme is Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the pig, so we had some really cute piggy books too. Its fun to celebrate different cultures, even if its only in tiny little ways. This Monday is our monthly Young Librarians group. This time I think we're going to try and create a newsletter to promote the group and promote books. I think it'll be a blast. Hope to see you there! This week is also Lego Club. I expect great things from everyone!

![]() It occurred to me at some point that blogging regularly at the beginning of the week over blogging regularly at the end of the week makes way more sense. If I was going to tell you everything that was going on this week, it would make more sense to tell you before it happened rather than after it happened. That's okay though. Only took me a year to think about that. :) So like now I can tell you that this week's storytime theme is YETIS! We had our Toddler Time (2-3 years) today at 10am, but we still have Tuesday at 10am for Preschoolers and Thursday at 10am for everyone. Join us! Its a blast and this week you can find out "Are We There Yeti?" And today we are going to have Minecraft at 6pm. We are still having a blast with Minecraft, so I say come join us! Tonight is our first monthly Makerspace open hours! Play with Miss Jill with all of our gadgets. Build, create and play. What could be more fun?
Tonight its all things color! ... the science of color. Doesn't that sound fabulous? Come and join Miss Valerie as we explore the science behind colors.
Come join us for our annual Amerks adventure! Everyone has lots of fun and usually there are some fun giveaways too!
We're trying new things this year! We want to let young voices be heard, science lovers trying new things, and our maker space explored! Don't worry though, we still have our regular favorites! ![]() Here comes the New Year and with that comes New Year's Eve celebrations... or in the library world "Noon Year's Eve". Space is almost full so hurry up! (Shame on me. It is possibly full already, I just really liked the poster I made.) With the New Year comes plans and ...dramatic sound... resolutions! I'm pretty proud of my previous year's resolutions. I did manage to keep the blog going and while I am not a running diva yet, I have continued throughout the year to run. What should this year's resolution be? I am leaning towards organization (as, I am sure, everyone who knows me would encourage me to choose). My brain is as flighty, floaty and fluffy as a puff of dandelion seeds. So what do you say? Choose the hardest thing possible? FUN, right? Let's do it! What will you choose? ... No, you cannot just choose Pikachu. :P Two of our staff, Hannah and Laura, have created a new blog! Unlike mine, which is a bunch of randomness, they have created a very specific one for teens. Its all based on book lists, but not just any book lists, but book lists about the zodiac. They'll be displaying the books in the teen area, so be on the lookout!
Please check out their blog. They're just beginning, but I feel like their enthusiasm is sure to pour out into the blog, and we love sharing our enthusiasm. :) So at my house we celebrate Christmas. And with Christmas comes presents. And with presents comes lots of thinking. What do you get kids that have everything and need nothing?
Well? ... I'm waiting! ... I could use some assistance. :) The obvious things: 1. books (although what haven't they read, what do they want to read?) 2. Socks (everyone needs new socks) 3. bed sheets (nothing is better than new bed sheets) 4. candy (everyone should have at least a tiny bit) 5. a new tooth brush (to get rid of all the candy) 6. more books .... 7. At this point maybe another book shelf See! I'm stumped! What do I get them? I don't want to buy them the newest gadgets and gizmos because they will like them for two minutes and then they will gather dust. Plus they don't need more electronics. We have electronics coming out of our ears at our house (and we don't even have hearing aids!) Do you guys ever have trouble with this? What do you do to conquer the Christmas madness? Thanks everyone! November just disappeared! First week, Miss Jill and I went to Disney World (it was AMAZING). Second week, I went to a library conference, where I learned tons of new and fascinating things (it was amazing, but not as amazing as Disney World. We got to be the Grand Marshals of the parade at Magic Kingdom!). Third week, I had to work on cleaning off my desk of everything that staff had piled on it. Fourth week, Thanksgiving. ... and here we are at the fifth week. Thank goodness for the fifth week! :)
This week we put up all of our Christmas decorations (next week I put up our book Menorah) and here comes December! Thank goodness I made time to post to the blog. I was determined to keep up with one of my New Year's resolutions. :) I still jog, but not as much as I would like to. I'm going to run the "Ugly Sweater 5k" this weekend, which scares me a little because I haven't run that much recently, but I am determined to finish, one way or the other. Wow. Today's post has been just a throw up of all sorts of things. Sometimes that's all that is needed. A little throw up now and then. |
